About Me

The Encyclopedia of Khatm-e-Nabuwat is a multilingual academic and research platform dedicated to preserving, studying, and presenting the Islamic doctrine of the absolute and unconditional finality of the Prophethood of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. Publishing in English, Urdu, and Arabic, it provides students, scholars, researchers, institutions, and general readers with carefully documented material grounded in the Holy Quran, authentic Sunnah, consensus of the Muslim Ummah, and established scholarly tradition.

The project addresses misconceptions and disinformation concerning Khatm-e-Nabuwat through evidence-based analysis, reliable references, clear reasoning, and academically responsible discussion. Its purpose is to make authentic scholarship internationally accessible while supporting serious study of this fundamental Islamic belief.

The encyclopedia’s original vision was conceived by the late Mufti Muhammad Amin Qadri Hanafi, who acquired its domain on November 10, 2004. Although he passed away in 2005 before realizing the project, the domain and vision were preserved for more than two decades.

Mufti Shah Rafi Uddin Hamdani later formally developed the initiative into a structured multilingual platform, combining Islamic scholarship, research leadership, publishing expertise, and digital strategy. Its technical planning and implementation are supported by Shumail Qadri, helping transform this scholarly vision into an organized, searchable, and globally accessible research resource for future generations.

FAQs

1. What is Khatm-e-Nabuwat?

Khatm-e-Nabuwat means the absolute and unconditional finality of Prophethood. It is the Islamic belief that Prophet Muhammad ﷺ is the last Prophet and Messenger of Allah and that no new Prophet can be appointed after him in any sense or form.

2. Who is the final Prophet in Islam?

Prophet Muhammad ﷺ is the final Prophet and Messenger of Allah. His Prophethood completed and sealed the entire chain of Prophethood, and no person after him can become a Prophet or Messenger.

3. What does Khatam al-Nabiyyin mean?

Khatam al-Nabiyyin means “the Seal of the Prophets.” It signifies that Prophet Muhammad ﷺ completed, perfected and closed the chain of Prophethood. The title establishes both his supreme rank and his chronological finality.

4. Which Quranic verse establishes the Finality of Prophethood?

The principal Quranic evidence is Surah al-Ahzab 33:40:

مَا كَانَ مُحَمَّدٌ أَبَا أَحَدٍ مِنْ رِجَالِكُمْ وَلَكِنْ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ وَخَاتَمَ النَّبِيِّينَ

“Muhammad is not the father of any of your men, but he is the Messenger of Allah and the Seal of the Prophets.”

5. What did Prophet Muhammad ﷺ say about Prophethood after him?

Prophet Muhammad ﷺ repeatedly declared: “There will be no Prophet after me.” He also stated that Prophethood and Messengership had ended. These unqualified declarations explain the meaning of Khatam al-Nabiyyin and exclude every later claim to Prophethood.

6. Can a non-law-bearing or subordinate Prophet appear after Muhammad ﷺ?

No. Islam permits no Prophet after Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, whether described as law-bearing, non-law-bearing, independent, subordinate, reflective, zilli or buruzi. Changing the terminology does not create an exception to the clear declaration: “There will be no Prophet after me.”

7. Does the return of Prophet Isa عليه السلام contradict Khatm-e-Nabuwat?

No. Prophet Isa عليه السلام was appointed as a Prophet before Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. His return will not constitute a new Prophetic appointment. He will follow the final Muhammadan Shariah and will not bring a new scripture, religion or law.

8. Why is belief in Khatm-e-Nabuwat important?

Khatm-e-Nabuwat protects the completeness, universality and permanence of Islam. It confirms that the Quran is the final Divine Scripture, the Shariah of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ is the final revealed law, and no later claimant can alter or supplement his Prophetic authority.

9. What is the Encyclopedia of Khatm-e-Nabuwat?

The Encyclopedia of Khatm-e-Nabuwat is a multilingual academic platform dedicated to researching, preserving and presenting authentic knowledge about the Finality of Prophethood. It provides referenced material for readers, students, researchers, scholars and educational institutions worldwide.

10. What sources does the Encyclopedia use?

The Encyclopedia consults the Holy Quran, authentic Hadith collections, classical Quranic commentaries, works of Islamic theology and jurisprudence, historical records, biographical literature, manuscripts, recognized academic publications and relevant contemporary studies.

11. In which languages is the Encyclopedia available?

The Encyclopedia publishes research in English, Urdu and Arabic. Its multilingual structure makes authentic scholarship on Khatm-e-Nabuwat accessible to international researchers, Muslim communities, scholars, students and educational institutions.

12. Who established the Encyclopedia of Khatm-e-Nabuwat?

The original vision was conceived by the late Mufti Muhammad Amin Qadri Hanafi, who acquired the project’s domain in 2004. The Encyclopedia was later formally developed and initiated as a multilingual academic platform by Mufti Shah Rafi Uddin Hamdani, with technical support from Shumail Qadri.
